This painting is a love letter to your inner child. It is an invitation to imagine, to play, to live deeply in your inner world, to be nurtured and nourished in whatever way you need.
I began painting it in the Fall of 2021 after a beautiful healing session that I had with my shaman. She had envisioned fairies bringing me a cape made of flowers. This so touched the heart of my own inner child that I knew I wanted to bring it to my next painting.
I had to set it aside for a few months after losing my husband in December. But it kept calling to me. When I returned, I still saw my inner child but also my own children. My hope for them and for myself that we could still find joy and be wrapped in love through and beyond this terrible loss.
On the black background, I used ebony pencil to draw objects that reminded me and some of you of childhood (thanks to those who contributed on social media!).
